Supporting Your Recovery After a Heart-Related Hospital Stay

Welcome to CardioCharge

CardioCharge is part of a clinical research study led by the University of Sydney and Westmead Hospital.

We are testing whether different digital support formats can help people recover after a heart-related hospital stay and reduce the chance of returning to hospital.

What the Study Involves

If you take part, you will:

  • Receive a text message invitation after discharge (or scan a QR code in hospital)
  • Review study information & give electronic consent
  • Answer a brief enrolment survey so we can tailor messages to you
  • Be randomly assigned (by chance) to one of two digital support formats:
    • 6-month SMS support program, or
    • Single digital information package
  • Receive heart health information aligned with clinical guidelines
  • Complete a short survey at the end of the 6-month period
  • (Optional) You may be invited to provide feedback about your experience

Participation lasts 6 months. You can withdraw at any time.

Who can join?

You may be eligible if you:

Are aged 18 years and above

Own a smart phone

Were recently hospitalised for a cardiovascular condition or are receiving cardiovascular care at a participating site

Benefits of joining the study

While we cannot promise direct benefit, participants will receive supportive heart-health information that may assist recovery and help connect with healthcare services.

Your participation will help improve future digital heart-health services in Australia.

Who Is Running the Study?

 

This research is led by:

  • Westmead Applied Research Centre, University of Sydney
  • Westmead Hospital cardiovascular clinicians

Funded by the MRFF Cardiovascular Health Mission.

There is no personal financial benefit to study staff.
